While this family hosts 70+ during holidays, day to day - the kitchen needs to function for a busy couple. The homeowners and I approached the project collaboratively, taking flow, light, function, and aesthetics into the equation.
I began by breaking the kitchen into two rooms - the world's longest butler's pantry and the kitchen centered around an epic island. Spanning the width of the kitchen, the butler's pantry offers behind-the-scenes support with a bar, sink, dishwasher, storage for food, dishes, serve ware, and small appliances, a backup refrigerator, and a full-height spice cabinet. The Main Kitchen centers around the 12' multi-use island. Raised filing cabinets hide a charging station, 36" Wolf Rangetop and Flush hood. On the other side of the columns, we added a large prep sink with under-sink garbage, a wine fridge and seating for 6. Other highlights of the kitchen include a recessed plant ledge over the main sink, Wolf 30" double ovens, 30" deep cabinets next to the 48" Sub-Zero and 27" Wolf Microwave to give more landing area, and refacing the fireplace to coordinate with the kitchen.
